Ashton Orchards Cider Mill – Ortonville – Review and Pics
Ashton Cider Mill is a pleasant little pitstop on the OCM Michigan Cider Mill tour. It’s short on widespread entertainment like Blake’s but there is a lot of charm to the place. I really admired the cleanliness and simplicity of the farm.
Ashton Cider Mill serves Apple crisps, cookies, fresh-baked breads & pies, jellies, fresh produce and more. You can even purchase firewood for camping. Ashton Cider Mill pleasing location holds many clean picnic tables and sturdy playground equipment for kids to relax and enjoy their Ashton Cider Mill cider. The grounds are very well-kept and the antique farm equipment that dots the landscape adds to the allure of the Michigan cider mill and farm experience.
Ashton Cider Mill cider is delicious but the highlight of the trip for me was the donuts. They’re bigger and crisper than most of the cider mill donuts I’ve experienced. They have a wonderful, crunchy texture.
I was surprised to find out that Ashton Cider Mill opened for the season in late July! The clerk told me “we open when the apples are ready.” Ashton’s hours are Monday-Saturday from 10a-6p and from noon-6p on Sunday. There aren’t a lot frills to Ashton Cider Mill, but the donuts alone are worth the trip.
