Bay Court Park Clarkston review, info, and pics of Bay Court Park, Bay Court Beach on Greens Lake, Brady Lodge, Ryan Schmidt Memorial Disc Golf Course, and playground info.

Bay Court Park, on beautiful Greens Lake in Clarkston, is a fantastic place to go for free family fun. The park is impeccably maintained by Independence Twp Parks & Rec and even has a beach for free swimming.

I’m very impressed with Bay Court Park. The park is beautifully designed. The long driveway takes you to a large parking lot in the center of the park. The central parking location is ideal as it is extremely easy to access the park’s many features without having to hike too far.

Review

Bay Court Park Beach is ramp accessible. The beach is relatively small but is one of the few public beaches in Oakland County that doesn’t require paid vehicle entry. The swimming areas clearly roped off and defined. The swimming is free but there are no lifeguards on duty. Swim at your own risk! Bay Court Park is scenic and has picnic tables right on the beach. The beach is open from 11a-8p Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day Weekend.

The Burleson Nature Trail at Bay Court Park is a hilly quarter-mile trail that loops from start point to end point.

The Ryan Schmidt Memorial Disc Golf Course is very well-maintained (and popular). The holes are long and feature markers similar to a real golf course. The course wraps around the outskirts of the park. The disc golf course is FREE to play.

There are two pavilions at Bay Court that the Independence Township Parks and Recreation department rents. The Cedar Grove Pavilion is huge and even has its own convenient parking lot. The Lakeside Pavilion is for smaller gatherings. Both pavilions have BBQ grills and nearby restroom access.

The Lakeview Multi-Purpose Room is a large indoor structure that holds indoor public restrooms and class areas. The Independence Township Parks and Recreation holds many classes in the Lakeview Room.

The large wooden playscape at Bay Court Park was built in 1994 but is so well-maintained that you’d think it was built much more recently. Many picnic tables dot the landscape around the playscape. In 2021, it was announced that it is time to replace the old one that has served the community so well since ’94. The wooden structure is getting up there in years and must be incredibly difficult to maintain with paint and stain. Independence Twp does a great job with the upkeep, but it’s time for something new. The new playground at Bay Court is promising to be special. Read about the current fundraising efforts here.

Independence Township Parks and Rec also has a beautiful gazebo you can rent for weddings.

There are many parks to take the family in Oakland County. The best part about the park is that it has so many amenities and that vehicle entry is free. I haven’t come across too many local parks that have as many amenities as Bay Court that don’t charge admission.
