I took my family to the Michigan Pinball Expo and it's a great family event. Below is my review from last year's Michigan Pinball Expo at Oakland Univeristy (see video below). Hope to see you there in April.
The Michigan Pinball Expo features more than 150 new and classic pinball machines. All machines are set to "free play". Just pay the low admission price and play pinball until your heart's content!
The 2012 Michigan Pinball Expo featured over $15,000 in cash and prizes and tournaments for all skill levels. Kids can particpate in free tournaments for trophies and prizes. One lucky 2012 Michigan Pinball Expo attendee won a brand new Wizard of Oz Pinball Machine! Kids tournaments are FREE to play in and Michigan Pinball Expo will have trophies and prizes!

When we arrived at Oakland University and as soon as we entered the room filled with over a hundred pinball machines, my kids' faces lit up! My husband and I had a more nostalgic approach and were brought back to the days when we played endless hours of pinball as kids. This was our chance to re-live the past, and we did.
We played for almost 4 hours! And, honestly, I could have stayed longer. But the kids were getting hungry and my six year old daughter was beginning to get tired. But, it was so much fun we will probably go back. Why not enjoy a nice air conditioned room filled with pinball machines?
The Michigan Pinball Expo is totally kid and family-friendly. As soon as you enter the hall at Oakland University's Oakland Center you'll be transported back to a glorious 70's or 80's era arcade. The site of so many wonderful machines (literally hundreds of them) left my kids slackjawed and I immediately felt like I did when I was 9 years old scrounging for quarters to play my favorite machines in arcades and restaurants when I was younger. It was a joy to see 60 and 70 year old men and women playing side by side with kids as young as 5 and 6 years old. I'm not sure who was having the most fun. If you go to Michigan Pinball Expo, plan to stay a while. The minutes melt into hours before you know it as you play vintage pinball machines and modern marvels.
I really appreciate the awesome craftmanship and creativity that was involved with the machines at Michigan Pinball Expo. all the pinball machines were provided by Michigan pinball collectors. It's too bad that pinball machines are a scarcity today.
This event is designed to be a FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT. All the pinball machines in the center of the Expo room are set on FREE PLAY and kids can wander around trying all the machines and finding their favorites. Kids and adults that attend the Michigan Pinball Expo can participate in free pinball tournaments where prizes and trophies are awarded!
