Summer sizzles at Meadow Brook with live cool Jazz in the Garden, a summer concert series featuring local jazz musicians. I attended Jazz in the Garden at Meadow Brook Hall on the campus of Oakland University and it was an outdoor wedding-like experience. As I approached the gardens, I saw the impressive white canopy tent. Inside, there was chandelier style lighting, pleated tent liner for the ceiling, tables with white linens, and white lawn chairs. There was an hors d’oeuvres station and a cash bar to go along with the jazz entertainment.

Birds On a Wire performed beautiful, smooth music. It was a perfect match with the relaxing and scenic view of the golf course right outside the tent, surrounded by the colorful gardens of the hall.

Jazz in the Garden at Meadow Brook Hall is well-suited for a couple's night out, or for a couple of girlfriends who want to spend a nice evening together. It's an ideal setup if you're looking for a relaxing atmosphere. The music is smooth and sweet, and definitely not too loud. You can easily hold a conversation while enjoying the music, some food and drinks, the outdoors, and the company. The band is extremely talented and such a joy to listen to.

I estimated over 50 people attended the event. Dress ranged from casual to dressy. And, everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.
