Disney on Ice

October 13, 2010

altThe name of the show has you thinking this one's for the ladies (i.e. young girls), but in reality, boys and girls of all ages enjoyed this show. I took my 8-yr old son, 6-yr old daughter and two of their friends (another boy and girl of the same ages as my kids). Anyway, here's the review:

All four kids were mesmerized by each Disney On Ice performance, and sitting on the edge of their seats, literally, waiting for the next one to begin.  Even though it was all about the princesses, you can't deny the beauty of the stage displays at Disney On Ice, lighting and special effects, or the talent of the skaters.

The Disney On Ice show lasted for about 2 hours and we were there from beginning til end. I don't want to give away too much, but it's hard for me to hold back since I really thought it was a great production. So here's the spoiler alert... I am giving away some minor details here so stop reading if you want to be surprised...

The Disney On Ice show kicked off with Tinkerbell, followed by a grand entrance from Mickey and Minnie. The show continued with magic flying carpets, neon glow in the dark costumes, explosive effects, and characters interacting with the crowd, including sitting down in the front row and high fiving with the kids. My favorite was the Cinderella presentation, which was the main attraction for the second half of the show. It was the whole story brought to life, down to the sparkling glass slippers. They even tried the glass slipper on little girls in the audience to see if it fit. The little girls were beyond thrilled! And, personally, I was happy that the second half was dedicated to the Cinderella story since it is my favorite story from when I was a little girl.

Overall, a very enjoyable show! Disney on Ice Princess is showing now until Sunday, October 17th at the Palace.
