Fire Prevention Week is October 5 through October 11, 2014. Fire departments and communities across Oakland County will hold open houses, demonstrations, and free family fun events!

Fire Prevention Week 2014 theme is: “Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month.”

Birmingham MI Fire Prevention Week Event – Fire Department Open House
Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 1p-4p
Adams Fire Station (572, South Adams, Birmingham MI)
Attendees will have an opportunity to operate a fire hose and view portable fire extinguisher demonstrations. In addition, attendees will enjoy an EMS and vehicle extrication display, along with HAZMAT apparatus and equipment. Enter a raffle and enjoy refreshments at this family friendly event! Bloomfield Township MI Fire Prevention Week Event – Open House

Township Campus (Telegraph S of Long Lake Rd)
Theme of this year’s open house is “Smoke Alarms Save Lives. Test Yours Every Month.” The Open House is held in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week. The kids will decorating pumpkins in the Pumpkin Craft area, there will be truck and heavy equipment to climb into, spouting fire hoses to hold, K9 demonstrations by the police and firefighting activities.

Clawson MI Fire Prevention Week Event – Open House

Clawson Fire Department (111 Gardner, Clawson, MI)
The Clawson Fire Department will once again visit local elementary schools to discuss the importance of fire safety. This year’s theme is “Smoke Alarms Save Lives: Test Yours Every Month.” Fire Department Open House will feature bouncers, a vehicle extrication demo, and fire safety smoke house plus other fun and games.

Farmington Hills MI Fire Prevention Week Event – Fire Prevention Open House
Friday, October 10, 2014 from 3p-7p
Farmington Hills Fire Department (31455 W. Eleven Mile, Farmington Hills, MI)
The free event will feature educational demonstrations from Farmington Hills Fire Fighters and fun activities for all ages. Participants can sit in a fire truck, learn about escape techniques in the Fire Safety House, dress up in fire fighter’s gear, and get their photo taken with Sparky the Fire Dog. Information booths will feature displays from Botsford Hospital, the Farmington Hills Police Department, the City Clerk’s Office, and the Emergency Preparedness Commission. Rochester MI Fire Prevention Week Event – Fire Prevention Open House
Sunday, October 12, 2014 from noon-3p
City of Rochester Fire Department (277 E. Second St., Rochester, MI 48307)
The Rochester Fire Department Open House will feature a rescue demonstration including vehicle extraction and rope rescue from heights, a Superior Air Ambulance helicopter landing, free hot dogs, free cider and donuts, free popcorn. Fire truck and rescue equipment will be on display.
