Music: Concert of Colors: October Babies: 5 p.m. on the South Lawn
October Babies performs original songs in Japanese and English. Their music weaves together elements of funk, jazz, R&B, reggae, techno, Latin, drum and bass and pop. Toko Shiiki-Santos and Erik Santos are the core of the band and its primary songwriters. They’ll perform music from their two albums “Ao-zora Radio” and “High Hai Hi!”
Music: Concert of Colors: Feufollet: 7 & 8:30 p.m. on the South Lawn
Feufollet is a band deeply rooted in the francophone soil of Louisiana. The quintet performs music from their latest recording, En Couleurs, which features original compositions that draw on Cajun experience, tempered by contemporary life.
Detroit Film Theatre: Louder Than Love: 9:30 p.m.
During the late 1960s the Grande Ballroom was the epicenter of the Detroit rock scene that spawned bands such as Iggy and The Stooges, Alice Cooper, The Frost, SRC and more. The Grande also inspired British acts such as Led Zeppelin, Cream and Pink Floyd, many of whom dreaded having to follow a blistering opening set by the MC5. Louder Than Love documents the creative and revolutionary frenzy of Detroit in the 1960s with rare archival footage and interviews of surviving musicians, while exploring the now abandoned theater haunted by this legacy. This encore screening of Louder Than Love is part of the Concert of Colors and is free to the public. Click here for more DIA Events.
