Oakland County Free Wood Chips Days – Grab your shovels, wheelbarrows and buckets! Oakland County Parks is giving away free wood chips at Orion Oaks County Park on various Saturdays.
Update 9/8/17 – OC Parks has notified us that they have cancelled Free Wood Chip Days for 9/8 and for the rest of 2017.
Patrons can enter at the Clarkston Road gate to load free wood chips for backyard projects.
The wood chips are of assorted wood that comes from power line maintenance pruning and storm damage. The free wood chips are a great way to help with landscaping and gardening projects!
Bring tools; shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. All wood chips must be self-loaded manually into pick-up trucks and small trailers. No commercial haulers. The hours to pick up free wood chips at Orion Oaks are from 8a-3p on the Saturdays listed below.

It would be nice if the wood chips were offered more than one Saturday a month.
