Great Start Collaborative Home Visiting Program – Great Start Collaborative offers a free home visit program for pregnant women, first time parents and single parents in Oakland County. The Great Start Collaborative Home Visiting Program services are provided from pregnancy until the child reaches 10 years old.
Because children don’t arrive with instruction manuals, home visiting programs match parents with trained providers. Service providers can range from Social Workers, Registered Nurses, Early Childhood Developmental Specialists, Registered Dietitians, Service Coordinators, other health professionals and more!
Providers visit the homes of vulnerable families regularly (about once or twice a month) from the time a mother is pregnant through the first few years of the child’s life. Visits take place in the home where parents are most comfortable.
During this critical developmental period, parents receive support and knowledge about how to provide a safe and stimulating environment as well as information about how children grow and learn.
