A mother from western Michigan who watches her friends' kids before the morning bus said that state officials claim she's running an illegal daycare.

The mother received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services that she either needs a license or must stop watching three neighborhood children for 15 to 40 minutes before the school bus stops in front of her house. The state forbids regular childcare for more than four weeks without a license.

Students beware: The summer vacation you just enjoyed could be sharply curtailed if President Barack Obama gets his way. Obama says American kids spend too little time in school, putting them at a disadvantage with other students around the globe.

The president, who has a sixth-grader and a third-grader, wants schools to add time to classes, to stay open late and to let kids in on weekends so they have a safe place to go.

Am I the only one who finds this to be somewhat creepy, for lack of a better word?

You've probably heard of the Marquette, Michigan widower whose wife died after delivering their second child, son Moses. Neighbors, 25 women to be exact, stepped in and now visit the home in shifts to breastfeed the infant son. They knew of the father's advocacy for breastfeeding, so they offered and he accepted.

For me, buying a computer fits right up there in the same big decision category as purchasing a new car. I research, I shop around, I price things out, I ask tons of questions... I like to think that when it comes to crunch time, I've made an educated decision. 

I've been buying computers for over 20 years now. I tend to go with the top of the line so the system lasts me for several years. I've never been disappointed with any of my purchases, until now.
