2023 UPDATE 11/23/23 – I’m sorry I won’t be able to update this page this year. I’ve been wrangling with Kohl’s for weeks try to locate their 2023 Kohl’s St Nicholas Square Village brochure / pamphlet so I could update this page. At first I was told the brochures were in the stores, they were not (I checked several). Then I was told I was looking for the info “too early”, so I waited. Finally someone actually looked into the situation and asked around on our behalf. I was told “we have stopped producing the pamphlet due to environmental reasons. This is directly from our internal team that confirmed the information. So sorry for any disappointment. I have shared your feedback, however, so hopefully next year this may be they may reconsider.” In the meantime, if some does have any of the info regarding retired pieces for 2023 and new pieces for 2023, I would be happy to publish it. For now, I simply don’t know how to acquire that information without the brochures. Hopefully next year a pamphlet is released. HAPPY HOLIDAYS everybody! A few years ago I decided to start up a collection of the St Nicholas Square Village from Kohl’s. I’ve added a piece or two each year and we set it up around our fireplace. It’s a fun way to kick off the holiday decorations. There’s still a lot I’d like to add to the Kohl’s St Nicholas Square Village, but that is what makes it so much fun each year. Each time we add a piece, it’s like getting a new toy.

I envision my St Nicholas Square Village to be a lot bigger one day. I found the above video on youtube that totally puts mine to shame. I don’t think I could ever make my Christmas Village collection this awesome, but it gives me something to shoot for.

The St Nicholas Square Village is found locally at Kohl’s department stores. The pieces are relatively inexpensive and have held up well since I started collecting them in 2005. They’re not indestructible but even the pieces with moving parts and trick lighting still work very well if stored properly. The quality of the pieces after around 2013 had dissipated noticeably.

The Kohl’s near me doesn’t have quite the supply of pieces or the display that it used to. It seems that they’re using the store space for other items and saving the Kohl’s St Nicholas Square Village for mostly online. Gone are the days of picking up pieces for 80% off after December 26 because they were so over-stocked :(

Kohl’s St Nicholas Square Village 2022 pieces have all the charm of the previous years but there have been a lot of complaints that the quality of the pieces is starting to wane. Still, the Kohl’s St. Nicholas Square village pieces are a great springboard for holiday village collecting. Also as I started noticing in 2019, the prices of pieces seems to have shot through the roof (even on sale). I’m not sure if this means the value or worth of older pieces is going up, but the retail price for these pieces are way higher than they have been in previous years. As was the case for the past few years, this is the first year I’ve noticed that the annual checklist DOES NOT list pieces that are being retired but they are listing pieces that are returning meaning anything on the returning list will be available while supplies last. FINALLY, the pieces since 2020 & 2021 seem to have more primary colors and striking colors as opposed to muted colors. My new Pet Adoption piece sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the older pieces in my collection. Thoughts?
