Los Locos Cantina Rochester Hills CLOSED – Los Locos Cantina in Rochester Hills has closed for good. The NW corner plaza at Tienken and Rochester Rd continues to be a Bermuda Triangle for restaurants.
The restaurant is boarded up and lease info is posted in the windows but the furniture remains. It was never really crowded on any of my trips there but I enjoyed the festive atmosphere when it was open.

Los Locos Cantina one of the newest Mexican restaurants to pop up in Oakland County. When compared to the other Mexican restaurants I’ve reviewed, this one seems to have a bit more of a Mexican fiesta flare to it and a big bar presence.
The menu offers the usual Mexican selections as well as some of the more rare and unique options like Pork Burritos, Ancho Chili Blackened Salmon, and Tampiquena (a flank steak prepared Mexican style). You can do a triple combo for $9.99 or a double combo for $8.99. In fact, most entrees at Los Locos fall under 10 bucks. Los Locos Cantina also boasts a wide selection of drinks including margaritas they claim to be the best in town. And you can get them by the glass, jumbo, or carafe. The atmosphere is perfect for a group of friends hanging out with a carafe of margaritas and some chips and salsa.
Los Locos Cantina serves fresh salsa that is chunky and comes in mild and hot. Prices are average for a nice Mexican restaurant, and the quantities are plentiful. If you’re looking for cheap and good Mexican food with quick service, hit El Patio in Waterford. Los Locos Cantina is a great place if you’re looking to hang for a while. And, the service is great.
The appetizers sound awesome, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to try them out and eat a meal as well. But, I could totally see myself heading there for the Botana, Que Pasa! nachos, or the queso fundido (flamed cheese). The Mexican pizza also sounds pretty tempting. And, if you’re not in the mood for Mexican food, Los Locos Cantina offers burgers and sandwiches as well.
There is a kids menu that offers a kids cheeseburger, mac and cheese, chicken or chesse quesadilla, kids burrito, kids soft taco and beans, or a grilled cheese and fries. Each is $4.99.
Los Locos Cantina has a very festive decor. It’s colorful and fun and even has a touch of some artistic graffiti. Outdoor seating is available and there is a garage door that opens the interior to some fresh air. A glass half wall allows for a sneak peek into the kitchen to see the chefs hard at work.
