There are plenty of fun things to do in and around Metro Detroit this weekend. This list will try to highlight some of the Metro Detroit weekend events – big and small – for kids and families. I’m going to be using this article to post events and activities that are either free, or at least family affordable.

Great Lakes Crossing Food Court
Great Lakes Crossing Easter Bunny! Bring your family to Bunnyville inside the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets Food Court and have your photo taken with the Easter Bunny now through April Fifth. Photo packages start at just $22 and everyone who visits receives a free gift. The Easter Bunny will take brief carrot breaks during the day.

Easter Bunny visits are free and include a surprise gift. Photo packages are available for purchase. Hours are 11a-8p Mon-Sat and Sundays from noon-6p from 3/21-3/31. From April 1-4, hours are 10a-9p.

Flint MI Weekend Event – VIDEOTOPIA Video Games Exhibit

Actually play the classic video games you know and love, just like in an arcade at this awesome museum exhibit! Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and Q*Bert are just few of the names of the more than 70 games at the Sloan Museum. Hours: Friday 10a-5p, Sat and Sun noon-5p. Admission: $9 adults, $8 Seniors (60+), $6 Youth age 2-11, Children 1 and under are FREE. Review and pics!

Troy MI Weekend Event – Butterflies!
Oakland Mall – LL near Center Court
Oakland Mall Butterflies 2015 Exhibit visitors can tour the butterfly house and interact with over 275 live butterflies in their special habitat daily. They can also take a photo with a butterfly, create butterfly crafts, view a life-cycle kiosk, and adopt-a-butterfly to take home. Butterflies! exhibit times are Mondays – Saturdays from noon – 8pm and Sundays 11a – 6pm. Admission to this interactive exhibit is $3 (includes free admission for child 2 and under).

The Lecons des Tenebres are a series of three vocal pieces composed in 1714 by Francoise Couperin. The work is rarely performed in its entirety and will be presented by Audrey Luna and Mary Elizabeth Southworth (sopranos) and Michael Unger (organ).

The Village of Rochester Hills will be taking $1 donations for Rainbow Connection if your children want to feed the animals.Oakland County Moms will sponsor a Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt. Participants will learn how the local American Indians discovered the sugaring process and how they shared this treat with the settlers. Hike out to the Sugarbush where we’ll guide your group in the proper tapping of a maple tree. After you have tapped a tree, check out the evaporator to see how the maple sap is boiled down into syrup. Of course, no one leaves without a taste of pure maple syrup! Milford MI Weekend Event – Maple’s Sweet Story
Kensington Metropark (2240 W Buno Rd, Milford, MI)
Take a guided walk through the farm’s sugar bush. Learn how to pick the right tree, then watch how maple trees are tapped and the sap is collected. Stop by the French and Native camp to hear and see how these techniques have changed through the years. Then visit the sugar shack to see and smell the sap being boiled down into maple syrup. Take a hayride to the Maple tree grove, tap the trees, bring sap back to evaporator and watch how maple syrup is made. Your family will not only see all of the steps in producing maple syrup but they will also take part in the process.
