There are plenty of fun things to do in and around Metro Detroit this weekend. This list will try to highlight some of the Metro Detroit weekend events – big and small – for kids and families. I’m going to be using this article to post events and activities that are either free, or at least family affordable.

Leonard MI Weekend Event – Boo Bash Camping Events
Addison Oaks County Park (1480 West Romeo Road, Leonard, Michigan 48367)
Haunted Halloween camping fun-filled activities including campground trick-or-treating, face painting, Halloween contests, pumpkin crafts, campsite decorating, inflatable bouncers, team games, hayrides, a costumed DJ dance and the Haunted House of Horrors. Southfield Pavilion (26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield, MI)
The festival will offer international music and dance performances throughout the entire weekend, including: Polish, Indian, African, Spanish, Greek, Korean, Mexican, Middle Eastern, Ukrainian and many others; children’s art and craft making workshops; and cultural exhibits and demonstrations. Hayrides are scheduled at Heritage Park every half-hour on Friday evenings in the Fall through November 6. Roast Marshmallows over a campfire and enjoy a cup of cider for one low price as part of the Fall Hayrides package.

Grab your shovels, wheelbarrows and buckets! Oakland County Parks is giving away free wood chips at Orion Oaks County Park on various Saturdays in 2015. Patrons can enter at the Clarkston Road gate to load free wood chips and compost for backyard projects. Bring tools; shovels, wheelbarrows, etc. All wood chips and compost must be self-loaded manually into pick-up trucks and small trailers. No commercial haulers.
