Metro Detroit Weekend Events Calendar – August 7 – August 9, 2015. There are plenty of fun things to do in and around Metro Detroit this weekend. This list will try to highlight some of the Metro Detroit weekend events – big and small – for kids and families. I’m going to be using this article to post events and activities that are either free, or at least family affordable.

Bloomfield Hills MI Weekend Event – BioBlitz
Cranbrook Educational Community (39221 Woodward Avenue in Bloomfield Hills MI, science.cranbrook.edu)
This is a FREE family-friendly event. BioBlitz is a backyard biodiversity festival that invites the community outdoors to explore nature on Cranbrook’s campus. Participants will work together with scientists and the community to learn more about what nature has to offer. BioBlitz will also have ongoing activities for people to enjoy such as exhibits, live animal programs, crafts, workshops, demonstrations, lectures, and activities. GM Renaissance Center
Admission to the concerts is always free and no tickets are necessary. Viewing space is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets, but outside food, beverages and coolers are not permitted. Convenient parking is available for a small fee per vehicle, starting at 5 p.m., at the GM surface lot at the intersection of St. Antoine and Atwater streets, adjacent to the GM Renaissance Center. Friday’s concert is – Creedence Clearwater Revisited.
