Michigan College of Beauty Troy Review

Michigan College of Beauty in Troy, Michigan offers extremely affordable facials, kids hair cuts, manicures, pedicures, updos and a variety of other salon options.

I used to hesitant to try out the Michigan College of Beauty in Troy. But, I was getting tired of the prices of kids haircuts.
The average price of $15 to shave my son’s head and trim him up was getting near annoying. Even the local barber wanted to charge $25. So when I got the $5 coupon in the Value Pack mailer, I thought why not give the Michigan College of Beauty in Troy a shot?

When my kids and I entered the reception area at the Michigan College of Beauty Troy, I was quite impressed. It was not what I expected. The outside of the Michigan College of Beauty building looks like a large house so I did not know what the inside was going to look like. I guessed it would look more like a school, but in fact it’s closer to an actual salon.

The haircut prices vary and there are different options, long hair is extra, etc. But to give you an idea, a cut and blowdry at the Michigan College of Beauty is about $10. Just a haircut is $5. Shampoo is included in the price but blowdry is extra. And, if you’re coupon savvy, check your value pack coupons and you can save even more. All the stylists had fashionable hair – a good sign. And the Michigan College of Beauty has been quite busy each time I’ve gone there…another good sign.

My kids’ haircuts turned out just as good as any other, only a heck of a lot cheaper. We’ll definitely be back. If you like a stylist, you can also request him/her.

Another impressive aspect at the Michigan College of Beauty is the selection of services. Because this is a school, they’ve got a lot to offer. Manicures, facials, hair cuts, updo’s, and so much more. And, when it comes to a service, for example, a manicure, there are so many options to choose from – Hot oil, French, paraffin, spa and a basic manicure.

All of the prices at the Michigan College of Beauty are well below the industry rates and the services are all provided by senior level students who are supervised. It’s really too hard to pass up a Basic manicure for $6 and a pedicure for $12. I already went back and had a European facial that was only $15 with my Value Pack coupon. It was a wonderful one hour plus of pampering. My Esthetician asked many questions and then catered the facial to my skin type and my skin goals.

A couple other points to mention:

  • Gift certificates are available.
  • Call beforehand and ask if they are having any specials, as they sometimes do.
  • They operate on a walk-in, first come first served basis
