Oakland County free preschool programs are available through Head Start and Great Start Readiness Programs. If you live in Oakland County, your child may be eligible for a zero-cost full or half-day preschool program. These free preschool programs are designed to give children a boost and help them be ready for Kindergarten.

Oakland County Free Preschool Programs

Free, high-quality preschool programs are available now throughout the county for eligible families with children who will turn 4 years old on or before December 1. You must be an Oakland County resident and provide documentation of income to qualify.

Free preschool for Oakland County children will be available for half-day and full-day programs in area schools and childcare centers with transportation services offered at select sites. Great Start Oakland also provides free ASQ screenings via their website for parents as a guide to understanding children’s development, learning and behavior. The Great Start Oakland free ASQ screenings / Ages and Stages Developmental Screening (ASQ) is available online and applies to all Oakland County children between the ages of 2 months and 5 years. Its purpose is to promote routine developmental screenings for young children. The ASQ is a screening tool, not an evaluation tool.
