Oakland County Waterparks Dog Swim

altTo celebrate the end of the season for the Oakland County Parks Waterparks, Red Oaks Waterpark and Waterford Oaks Waterpark will open only for the four-legged customers at the Annual Dog Swim.

Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Waterford Oaks Waterpark
Sunday, September 8, 2013 at Red Oaks Waterpark
Noon – 5 p.m. both dates

To end the season, “It’s a unique event for dogs to come out to the waterpark. They get to enjoy swimming in the pool,” Recreation Specialist Matt Pardy said. “It works out really well for us because we drain the pool the next day to get it ready for winter.”

Waterford Oaks Waterpark’s Dog Only Swim is Sept. 7, 2013 from noon – 5p, and Red Oaks Waterpark’s Dog Only Swim is Sept. 8, 2013 from noon-5p. Owners should bring dogs on a six-foot leash. Once in the fenced in designated pool area, they can be taken off the leash.

There are 5 different dog only swim times based on the dog’s weight; limited to 75 dogs. Each time period is 55 minutes long. Contests each hour for Best Wet Look and Best Swimsuit. Each time slot is  All owners must show valid Michigan Dog License and proof of vaccinations at the time of the event before Aug. 30; $10/$15 at the gate.

Red Oaks Waterpark is located at 1455 East 13 Mile Road in Madison Heights.
Waterford Oaks Waterpark is located at 1702 Scott Lake Road in Waterford.
