Civic Center Park is located in Madison Heights, Michigan on 13 Mile Rd. just west of John R. Road.

Civic Center Park is most famously known for its large sled hill as it seems to be featured on local news after every large snowfall. The sled hill, while it lacks a lot of amenities, is impressive. It's very wide across the top to accommodate large groups of sledders. The sled hill at Civic Center Park is very close to the parking lot.

Don't laugh, if you've been to other local Michigan sled hills, you'll know what I mean when it comes to hiking a great distance with kids lugging sleds. The sledding hill at Civic Center Park doesn't have a warming center but there is close proximity to public bathrooms. The sled hill also doesn't feature a side walk up section or barriers. If you go on a busy day, it's basically a free-for-all of kids racing up and down the hill. The sled hill itself is worth it is worth it from a sledding standpoint. It's plenty steep and, like I said, widely accessible for large groups.

Civic Center Park also features a large skate park called "The Ramps". The Ramps is also located close to most of Civic Center Park's central parking and is open from 8p-10p from April 1st to November 1st. The Ramps Skate Park features modern rails and half-pipes and is well taken care of.

Civic Center Park has playscapes located near the main pavilion shelter. The playscapes are fairly modern but nothing to write home about. Basketball courts and sports fields are centrally located. While the scenery is sparse compared to many other Oakland County Parks, they do offer a 1 mile fitness track. Other features include picnic pavilions and sand volleyball.

While Civic Center Park doesn't offer what some parks offer in terms of nature, you can't beat the central location of the park and the close proximity to the park's attractions. Civic Center Park is located conveniently near the Madison Heights Police Station, Public Library, 43rd District Court and city planning building. The Civic Center Park Sledding Hill is the star of the park's show.
