Stony Creek Metropark in Shelby Township has plenty to offer families. And, they recently added a new children's outdoor playscape at Eastwood Beach that will keep children entertained for hours.

The playscape at Stony Creek Metropark's Eastwood Beach has features that you won't find at many other playscapes. There are two interesting Scavenger hunts that have kids searching for listed pictures all throughout the playscapes. Even though it's a basic scavenger hunt, the kids are excited to run around the playscape looking for the pictures until they find all of them.
There are also sound activated features at the new children's playscape at Stony Creek's Eastwood Beach. Children have fun "winding up" the Nature sound machines and the steering wheel auto driver with sound.
One of the most popular features of the new Stony Creek playground is a hydraulic fireman "elevator style" pole. Gone are the days of kids sliding down the playground fireman pole. This new piece lowers children slowly to the ground and then rises back to the upper level once the children step off. The kids thought this was so much fun, and they've never seen anything like it. I only hope it's not the first thing to break - it's very widely used, and I can't imagine the hydraulics not wearing out.
Another hit is the life-sized spider web at Stony Creek's new playscape. This is made up of thick elastic ropes that all link and intertwine, building up into a 3-dimensional climbing maze. It's a victory in the child's eyes when they reach the center.
The kids also enjoyed the giant slanted open spinning tire circle. I'm not sure what else to call it, but it's an open circle that rotates on a slanted axis so it spins as the children try to hold on tight for the ride. It's even more fun when a parent gives it a spin.
Finally, here's one I've never seen and wouldn't dare to try out myself, however, the kids all loved it. It's a small spinning "tire" circle that kids to sit inside while it spins in place so fast that you don't fall out. Many dizzy kids exited this barely able to walk a straight line, but they loved it none the less.
It's great to see this playground addition addition to Stony Creek. Eastwood Beach is one of the family hot spots at Stony, so this giant playscape is very well received, and nicely designed for lots of great entertainment.
