Local Michigan author James Robert Miller sent me two of his books for review, A Spider Lives in My Belly Button and A Monstrous Smile. Both books feature the characters Basie and Paisley. I enjoy reading books from local authors with my children. It's great to see the creativity we have right here in Michigan.
Just recently, James sent me his most recent book, A Moose in the Basement. - a cute tale of many different animals living in a monster's home. And, of course, Basie and Paisley make an appearance.

It's a story about a group of girlfriends that is relateable and gets you thinking about your own group of close friends and how much you cherish those relationships. Julianna Blankenship took her close friendships she developed in college and wrote a story about how things might have been if they all grew up together in the same neighborhood.
A recent hot topic lately has been all the cuts being made among the schools due to budget constraints. As parents, we are concerned about whether or not our children will be given the greatest learning potential amidst these cutbacks.
