Long gone are the days where the sole baseball option for kids was the local little league. With as many Oakland County youth sports leagues that are available, parents are left to do research to find out which is best suited for their children.

Recently, we were looking for a summertime youth sports league that offered sessions throughout the summer, instead of a week long camp or a two-day deal. i9 Sports offered this option so we had our daughter do the summer soccer program (instructional with scrimmages) and our son did the flag football league which has practices, games, PPK competition (punt, pass, kick), and playoffs.

This review is of my experience as a parent with the Rochester Youth Soccer League (RYSL) U7 (under 7) girls league. My usual disclaimer applies. As I stated in previous reviews of local sports leagues, experiences sometimes vary greatly depending on parents expectations of what a league offers.

The new Lozier Music location in Rochester Hills is now open. Lozier Music is a music studio specializing in the Australian developed piano method called Simply Music. Living in a designated "Tree City USA" comes with some hefty tree maintainence responsibilities. I could no longer stand bumping my head into low hanging cherry blossom branches and wearing pink petals in my hair.

I got a call from Adam at J&S Property Management to come out and do a free estimate on tree timming at my home. I immediately agreed.

I stopped by the Troy, MI location of Camp Bow Wow to review their doggy day camp and boarding facility. I was met by Tiffany, one of the managers, who gave me a complete tour of Camp Bow Wow.

Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum in Farmington Hills is a unique venue (to say the least) to take the kids. Think of it as a cross between Dave and Buster's and Chuck E. Cheese's.

The new Emagine Theatre in Royal Oak opens May 16, 2011. I attended the recent grand opening celebration and enjoyed touring the new facility. It's truly an experience. The 71,000 square foot Emagine Theatre entertainment facility features a 10-screen movie theatre and 16 lanes of upscale boutique bowling, including a private room with four bowling lanes and a bar that is ideal for family and corporate outings. For larger gatherings, there is a 200 person banquet room.
