EZ Pop Button Maker

July 05, 2011

altThe EZ Pop Button Maker is one of those toys that I dislike but my kids find fun.

My main complaint about the do it yourself EZ Pop Button Maker would be the difficulty in getting the pin component inserted into the backing piece. I was killing my fingers pressing it over and over as hard as I could, trying to get it to snap into place. I ended up having to take the side edge of a ruler to push it into place. It was a very tough snap.

Glow Crazy Distance Doodler

June 26, 2011

altGlow Crazy one of those "As Seen on TV" products. It is a cool concept and is quite an invention. Basically, the Glow Crazy Distance Doodler comes with two large glow clings that are about 2 feet wide by 1 foot tall. You can keep them big, or cut them into smaller pieces or shapes. They "cling" to the wall (and so far haven't pulled off any paint). Once it's dark in the room, you can use the light pen to draw onto the clings. You can draw up close or stand up to 10 feet away. It is easier to draw with more detail and accuracy when standing up close.

Book Review - What's Eating Your Child

June 19, 2011

altFood allergies and sensitivies among children are on the rise. I have battled a great deal of trial and error and illness with my daughter eating certain foods. It's been challenging, but I can vow that when we've determined the problematic foods and eliminated them, she is much better off. Otherwise, we've experienced a great deal of fussiness, vomiting, lethargy, and weight loss.

Australian Gold Clear Continuous Spray Review

June 13, 2011

altSpreading sunscreen on my kids can be so cumbersome it almost makes me want to skip it. That not so easy to spread thick white pasty sunscreen lotion is just too difficult, and leaves the kids feeling all sticky. When Australian Gold® offered for me to trial their spray on sunscreen for a review, I eagerly agreed, and quickly found it to be the easy solution.

Firefly Toothbrush

June 08, 2011

altWhat is it about getting kids to brush for a good two minutes that's like pulling teeth, no pun intended. The dentist has given my kids those sand timers that equal two minutes, but watching those is like watching a pot of water come to a boil.

Discovery Kids Balloon Pumper

altGone are my days of standing for hours at the sink filling water balloons, only to see them get popped within minutes - thanks to the 3-in-1 Discovery Kids Balloon Pumper.

Gilgal Wines

June 03, 2011

altI grew up in a home with a wine cellar in the basement. My dad would make his own wine so I've always been exposed to quality wine.

I have tried several different good wines, but I would still consider myself far from a sommelier or a wine connessieur. That said, I know a decent wine when I taste it.

Teaching Child Safety By Exposing Them To Risk

May 17, 2011

altI receive many emails in a day, but this one definitely stood out from the rest. It was titled "Let your children do 50 DANGEROUS THINGS this summer." It was all about a book called 50 DANGEROUS THINGS (you should let your children do), written by Gever Tulley.

Books Promoting Self-Esteem in Children

May 16, 2011

altPsychologist Dr. Pat Palmer has written several books for children. The books teach Social and Emotional Learning (S.E.L.), which has been proven to be an essential tool for parents and educators in helping children combat bullying, excel in school, develop strong and healthy relationships, control their anger, promote self-esteem and develop personal responsibility.
