Mentor Connection through JFS of Metro Detroit offers mentoring opportunities for adults to mentor kids and young adults ages 7-17 through structured one-on-one relationships.
Mentor Connection provides quality mentoring serves that exceed state standards and the committment, while minimal, can have long-lasting positive effects.
Mentor Connection matches volunteer adult mentors with same-gender youth. Mentors spend 2-4 hours twice a month with their mentees and are matched based on common interests, personality types and geographic location. Mentor Connection presently has over 50 young people on our waiting list who actively want an adult mentor and often wait a year or longer to be matched. The young people on our list come from very diverse backgrounds and Mentor Connection will do their best to connect you or members of your organization with youth you not only feel comfortable with, but also with whom you can make a great impact on.
Mentor Connection strives to see that every youth involved in the program receives the support, encouragement, and skills needed to lead successful, healthy lives.
Mentoring is easy — it’s taking a child to a movie, for a walk, playing catch, or even sharing a meal together. Just do what you do.
