Rochester Area Neighborhood House
It may surprise you to hear that sometimes the people most in need are your very own neighbors. Unfortunately, nobody is guaranteed financial stability. And, the Rochester Area Neighborhood House (RANH) is here to help the community when its people fall on hard times.
RANH serves our neighbors in Rochester, Rochester Hills, Auburn Hills (east of I-75), Oakland Township, and Addison Township.
RANH offers many services to address the needs of our community:
They have a Clothes Closet (248.656.0230), a retail-like environment providing gently used clothing and small household items. RANH provides Counseling Services to discuss employment, emotional, financial and spiritual needs with experienced professionals. The Financial Assistance department assists with emergency needs including rent, utilities, medical bills, car repairs, etc.
RANH has its own THAW (The Heat and Warmth Fund) effort that is a screening site for assistance with utility bills. The Food Pantry (248.651.5836) provides emergency food for individuals and families. Transportation is available for senior citizens, the disabled, or low-to-moderate income clients needing a ride to a doctor appointment or to a social service agency.
RANH offers guidance to help clients find the right resources.
There are two more things that I want to point out about RANH: their C2S motto – Crisis 2 Sustainability. When someone falls on hard times, RANH acts as the bridge that takes them to self-sufficiency. Also, it truly is a “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” effort. This area has such a strong community and it’s something I first noticed when I moved here 10 years ago.
