Beverly Park sledding hills Oakland County 2 sides of a sled hill. The east side of the sled hill is a smooth, fast slope. The west side has a tier or a plateau so it’s a quick drop that flattens out followed by another steep drop. Teens and pre-teen sledders and snowboarders favor the west side of Beverly Park sled hill. The Beverly Park sled hill has steps making it an easy climb to the top of the hill. You’ll have to walk a ways to find the sled hill from the parking lot but the sledding is some of the finest in Metro Detroit! Oakland County Sledding Hills / Birmingham Sledding – Lincoln Hills Golf Course Sled Hill
Lincoln Hills Golf Course – (2666 W 14 Mile Rd, Birmingham, Michigan 48009, 248-530-1670)
Lincoln Hills sled hill is close to the parking lot and just outside the golf course clubhouse (which serves as a handy bathroom and warming shelter). Sledding at Lincoln Hills is FAST! The hill grades downward from east to west so the big kids try the steeper east side of the hill while the younger kids tackle to less-steep west side of the hill. Oakland County Sledding Hills / Birmingham Sledding – Booth Park Sled Hill
Booth Park – (151 Martin St, Birmingham, MI 48009)
The Booth Park playground and hill residents watch outdoor movies on in the summer turns into a smallish sled hill that’s ideal for the smaller ones in the winter. A temporary snow fence outlines the boundaries. Booth Park is maintained by the City of Birmingham. Review – Pics – Video

Bloomfield Hills Sled Hills – Bowers School Farm Sled Hill & Tubing

One of (Lost Lake’s still the best) night sledding places around. Tubing (unfortunately) isn’t FREE and you have to pre-register which takes the starch out of a spur-of-the-moment experience. You also can’t bring your own sled or tube. The hill is carpeted which provides fun even when snow conditions are less than ideal. Tubing rates are by 50-min increments and you must register for an appointment. Hours are Thursdays 4p-9p, Fridays 4-10p, Saturdays noon-10p, Sundays from noon-9p from 1/7/22 through 2/27/22. Oakland County Sledding Hills / Farmington / Farmington Hills Sledding – Shiawassee Sled Hill
Shiawassee Sled Hill – (Shiawassee road in Farmington near 10 Mile Rd and Orchard Lake Road)
The hill is extensive and features a wide, fenced off walking path in the middle of the hill complete with hay bales for sledders to safely climb back to the top for another trip down the sled hill. Thanks to the snow fences adorning the hill and walking path, the sledding is very safe. Speeds aren’t too fast but the sledding is fast enough to satisfy most child riders. Sledding Hills Oakland County Sled hill hours at Shiawassee are from 9a-10p during prime sledding conditions. Sledding is free at the sled hill and parking is easy. Just park at the school administration building and bus garage on near the hill off of Shiawassee road. This hill is maintained by the City of Farmington. Review – Pics – Video.

Farmington / Farmington Hills Sledding – Heritage Park Sled Hill

The sled hill inside Heritage Park is a large to medium-sized hill – it’s fast enough and steep enough for any sledder to have a good time. What sets Heritage Park sledding hill apart from most others is the beautiful scenery around the hill. Sledding at Heritage Park almost feels like a nature retreat and (almost) outshines the sledding fun! No warming shelter or night sledding at Heritage but parking is close and you can always warm up with coffee and hot chocolate in the Nature Center just a quick drive away. Ferndale Sled Hills – Donald Gattes Sled Hill at Martin Road Park
Martin Road Park – (1615 E Lewiston Ave, Ferndale, MI 48220)
Users can climb the fenced in stairway that leads to the top of the hill from the south side the park and safely sled down west to east down the smooth hill. It’s a nice sled hill, but in no way too fast or treacherous. A perk is that the sled hill is a short walk from the parking lot and another short walk to indoor restrooms. Review – Pics.

Lake Orion / Orion Twp Sledding – Jesse Decker Park Sled Hill
Jesse Decker Park – (west side of Squirrel Road, south of Silverbell Road)
The sled hill at Jesse Decker Park is no-frills – just an open park and a large sledding hill near the baseball fields. It’s quite a walk from the parking lot to the sled hill but the Decker Park sled hills lightning fast! The Sledding Hills Oakland County sled hill has a dip at the bottom allowing for sledders to get “plenty of air” and cause more than few wipeouts. Sledding is a free-for-all affair at with no separate walkways and might not be the ideal place to take a young child sledding. Older kids with a need for speed will enjoy the sledding though. Every wonder where the Metro Detroit TV news crews go to film the sledding on snow days in Michigan? Usually they head to Civic Center Park to film the sledders at the giant hill. Sledding hills Oakland County at Civic Center park is popular on snow days. The sled hill is plenty steep and widely accessible for large groups. Parking is close to the hill and there’s a nice walk up section on the side of the hill. Civic Center Park is maintained by the City of Madison Hts. Close proximity bathrooms is an added bonus. A variety of hills, from beginner to advanced. A short “bunny hill” designated for younger sledders features padded trees for added safety. The toboggan runs, sledding, and beginner snowboarding hills are located at the Orchard picnic area. Hills and runs are open from 11a-dusk on weekdays and 10a-dusk on weekends. Call for conditions.

Lost Lake features the best sledding in Oakland County, and is easily a top 3 sledding hill Oakland County or all of Metro Detroit. Lost Lake sled hill has a warming shelter, safe walkway up the hill, seating areas and picnic tables. You can even rent the shelter and host sledding parties! Lost Lake Nature Park has a live-in caretaker so the sled hill is well-maintained. The Oakland County sledding fun isn’t limited to daylight hours, they host night-time sledding (call for days/times) thanks to tree top lamp towers that light up the hill at night. Oakland County Sledding Hills / Oak Park Sledding – “Hamilton Hill” at Shepherd Park
Shepherd Park – (14300 Oak Park Boulevard, Oak Park, MI 48237)
Easy access to the sled hill can be found by parking at the Oak Park Community Center. From there, the sledding hill is just a short walk from the parking near the many baseball fields. The hill isn’t very long but the sledding hill is fairly steep allowing for some fast runs. A nice neighborhood sled hill for locals but probably not worth the drive as a destination. Shepherd Park is a neighborhood park maintained by the City of Oak Park. Review, pics and video.

Oakland County Sledding Hills / Oxford Sledding – Seymour Lake Park “Red Flyer Run” Sled Hill

Red Flyer Run is a nice mid-sized sled hill… fast, but not lethal. The sled hill at Seymour Lake Park gets high marks thanks to its convenient access to the parking lot, centrally located bathroom and clearly-marked paths marking the hill. You don’t even need to leave the car if you’re keeping an eye on your kids. The park is open until 10p year-round so you can enjoy sledding at night courtesy of the light towers at the top of the hill. Oakland County Sledding Hills / Rochester / Rochester Hills Sledding – Bloomer Park Sled Hill
Bloomer Park (345 John R Road, Rochester Hills, Michigan 48309)
There are 3 sledding runs at Bloomer Park on the large sled hill with walkways between each hill for kids to climb after their run. On the weekends, there’s usually a park attendant parked nearby making sure conditions are OK for sledding. The sled hills are steep enough for fast sledding and each hill is divided by a walkway that makes it safe for even young riders. Bloomer Park is only open Thursday through Sundays in the winter. When sledding conditions are ideal, there is usually a park attendant at the entrance. Bloomer is operated by the City of Rochester Hills. Park admission is $5. Review – Pics – Video.

Oakland County Sledding Hills / Rochester / Rochester Hills Sledding – Borden Park Sled Hills
Borden Park – (east side of John R Rd between Hamlin Rd and Auburn Rd, Rochester Hills, MI)
The high berms or banks that surround Borden Park are quite popular and make ideal sled hills for young sledding enthusiasts. Because the berms surround most of the park, the sledding is wide open and never too crowded. The sled hills aren’t terribly steep so it’s perfect for children. It’s also ideal for learning to snowboard. Be prepared for a long walk from the parking lot to the ideal sledding spots. Admission to the park is FREE. Shelby Twp Sledding – Stony Creek Metro Park Sled Hill

Stony Creek has sledding at 2 of their picnic areas – Gladeview, and Westbranch. A Metro parks vehicle entry permit is required to access the sled hills.

Oakland County Sledding Hills / Waterford Sledding – Waterford Oaks County Park Sled Hill
Waterford Oaks County Park – (1702 Scott Lake Road, Waterford, Michigan 48328 – Follow the signs to the sled hill parking lot)
Waterford Oaks doesn’t have the fastest or steepest sled hill in Metro Detroit, but what Waterford Oaks sled hill lacks in speed, it makes up for in convenience. The parking is CLOSE to the sledding fun and the durable walkways make it safe and easy to trek up the 320 foot long x 27 foot high Oakland County sledding hill. The hill is open daily, weather permitting, from sunrise to sunset or as posted at the gate. When conditions are ideal, the sled hill is lit up for nighttime sledding until 9p on weekends. Oakland County Sledding Hills / West Bloomfield Sledding – Marshbank Park Sled Hill

The sledding hill at Marshbank Park is located right at the park’s entrance and VERY close the parking lot making extremely convenient and accessible even to the smallest sledders. The park’s main building serves as warming shelter and has modern restroom facilities – huge bonus! Marshbank Park is open daily from the hours between 8a and dusk. Marshbank Park is operated by West Bloomfield Parks. There is no entry fee or admission to visit. Review – Pics – Video.
