Val’s Coney Island Rochester Hills CLOSED

Val’s Coney Island Rochester Hills CLOSED – Val’s has closed up their restaurant on Auburn Road west of Rochester Road. Val’s started as a small, Coney Island with affordable prices. Here’s my original review of Val’s from 2010.

Sometimes I run errands with my husband or meet my friends for a quick and easy lunch. By quick and easy, I usually search for cheap. In these situations I often find myself often going to a local National Coney Island or a Leo’s Coney Island for a speedy Greek salad or a gyro. Instead of the usual, I recently stopped by a tiny, strip mall Coney place called Val’s. I like off-the-beaten-path places like Val’s and I was impressed by the menu.

Val’s Coney Island Rochester Hills is located in a strip mall off of Auburn Rd just west of Rochester Rd in Rochester Hills. It’s tiny! Its max capacity is just 49 people and they are only open until 3p daily.

For such a small location, they pack a wallop in the value and menu departments. Yes, it has all the Coney Island restaurant favorites. Val’s just seems to have more variety on their menus than places like National or Leo’s has.

The feature: 12 types of garden fresh salads, 11 types of Pitas, 16 different sandwiches, hot sandwiches, dinner entrees and a giant breakfast menu. Val’s keeps the prices low while providing generous portions. Most Coney places have generic menus or skimp on the portions but not Val’s.

Now, when those quick/easy/cheap/close lunchtime moments arise, I have a great option! It’s not The Whitney, but it serves its purpose well.
