Rochester Hills, Michigan Weekend Event: Michigan’s Live Birds of Prey
Van Hoosen Museum (1005 Van Hoosen Road, Rochester Hills, MI 48306)
Joe Rogers and the Wildlife Recovery Association will be presenting an informative program about Michigan’s birds of prey. This presentation will focus on the different owl species in Michigan, how these owls compare to other birds of prey, and the issues that affect these nocturnal hunters. Detroit, Michigan Weekend Event: Dinosaur Zoo Live

Erth’s DINOSAUR ZOO Live takes you on a tour through pre-historic Australia, bringing an eye-popping array of ancient creatures to life on stage. You will observe and interact with extraordinarily life-like creatures, just like those that inhabited the Southern Hemisphere millions of years ago. Meet a menagerie of insects, mammals and dinosaurs in their ancient environment, in this highly imaginative, entertaining and educational live show. Rita Hosking is a singer songwriter from Northern California whose styles include Americana, folk, bluegrass and mountain music. Troy, Michigan Weekend Event: Maple Syrup Time
Stage Nature Center (6685 Coolidge Highway, Troy, Michigan 48098)
This program starts with a short introduction to maple syruping indoors and then participants can hike the trails to see how sap is collected. Afterwords, participants will stop in the sugar shed and see the wood-stocked sap evaporator in action. The tour finishes with syrup tasting over warm mini-pancakes! Presentations will begin every half hour between 9 am and 3 pm. Prices: Children (4-12): $6; Teen & Adult: $8; TNS or THS/THV Member Fee: $6. Children must be accompanied by an adult. White Lake, Michigan Weekend Event: Maple Sugaring
Indian Springs Metropark (5200 Indian Trail, White Lake, MI 48386)
Participants will learn how the local American Indians discovered the sugaring process and how they shared this treat with the settlers. Hike out to the Sugarbush where we’ll guide your group in the proper tapping of a maple tree. After you have tapped a tree, check out our evaporator to see how the maple sap is boiled down into syrup. Of course, no one leaves without a taste of pure maple syrup! Milford, Michigan Weekend Event: Maple’s Sweet Story
Kensington Metropark (2240 W Buno Rd, Milford, MI)
Take a guided walk through the farm’s sugar bush. Learn how to pick the right tree, then watch how maple trees are tapped and the sap is collected. Stop by the French and Native camp to hear and see how these techniques have changed through the years. Then visit the sugar shack to see and smell the sap being boiled down into maple syrup. Real maple syrup products will be available for sale–taste a sample at the end of your tour. Call 810-227-8912 for cost info and to register. All Saturdays and Sundays in March.

Northville Township, Michigan Weekend Event: Maple Syrup Tour

Take a hayride to the Maple tree grove, tap the trees, bring sap back to evaporator and watch how maple syrup is made. Your family will not only see all of the steps in producing maple syrup but they will also take part in the process. Maple syrup and maple syrup products for purchase in our General Store in the Welcome Center. Admission is $6.00 per person, 2 and under free. Dress warmly and boots are a must.
