Yappy Days Free Pet Expo

altOakland County Parks and Recreation is hosting Yappy Days Pet Expo on July 29th from 11a to 3p at Orion Oaks Dog Park for owners to pamper their dogs or bring home a new canine friend as an addition to the family.

This free pet expo at Orion Oaks Dog Park features pet adoption, vendors, doggy treats, demonstrations and fun pet activities.

Drop-in training clinics with certified dog trainer Melissa Fenstermaker from Union Lake Veterinary Hospital will take place at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The fun day is filled with all things canine. Yappy Days events include:

  • 1 p.m. –  Best Dog Trick
  • 1 p.m. –  Best Summer Dog Outfit – dress up your large and small dogs in their best summer outfit!
  • 1 p.m. –  Dog and Owner Look-a-like Contest
  • 2 p.m.  –  Musical Mutt Walk – musical chairs adapted for dogs!
  • 2 p.m.  – Peanut Butter Lick – hilarious contest to see which dog is the fastest to lick a spoon of peanut butter held in its owner’s mouth!
  • 2 p.m. – Bobbing for Tennis Balls – bobbing for apples with a doggie twist!

Dog Agility Course featuring tunnels and jumps is set up for doggie play all day!

Barbecued hot dogs, snacks and beverages provided by Kosch Catering will be available for purchase.

An Oakland County Parks and Recreation 2012 annual vehicle permit or daily park pass is required for park entry. Orion Oaks Dog Park is located at 2301 W. Clarkston Road in Orion Township – enter off Joslyn Road.
