The new statistics are staggering at the increasing rates in young and old. Cancer is the end byproduct of many years of a body that cannot detoxify properly. Toxins in our food, water, air and what we put on our skin and hair can all contribute to the rise of all cancers. An inactive life style with lots of stress also compounds the problem.

Breast Cancer Prevention Diet Tips

Food and water – most non organic foods are over processed making them non-nutritious. If the label reads fortified don’t buy it. It has been stripped of any balanced nutrition and the body will treat it as a toxin. Non organic foods are grown in and sprayed with toxic chemicals that act as harmful hormones in women. The water from our tap is full of chemicals that over time create a toxic affect in our body.

The Detroit water is full of chlorine (pool water), fluoride, copper sulfate, chemical, heavy metals and hormones (estrogen) to name a few. How do hormones get in the water you ask? Women on birth control pills or HRT urinate into the water and it is not filtered out during the water recycling process. If you have an estrogen based breast cancer this may grow or restart it.

Nutritional deficiencies – Most women with breast cancer are low in vitamin D 25.  In the book The Vitamin D Cure the Doctor author quotes studies that prove this. By raising your vitamin D levels to above 55, your chances of breast cancer go down dramatically. Milk is not the best source of vitamin D and the recommended levels 400-1000 IU per day are not high enough to prevent cancer. The rule of thumb is 25-60 IU per pound of body fat. Iodine is also critical for the prevention of breast cancer. Dr. Brownstein wrote a book on the many uses of Iodine (a natural mineral) and quotes a study on bread. Until 1960, bread makers used Iodine in bread. Then they replaced it with Bromide and the breast cancer rates went up dramatically.

Several investigators have shown convincing evidence connecting inadequate iodine intake and breast cancer.

Japanese women living in Japan consumed a daily average of 13.8mg total elemental iodine and they experience one of the lowest prevalence (risk) for breast, ovarian and uterine cancer.

In the 1960’s one slice of bread in the USA contained the full RDA of 0.15 mg iodine. The risk for breast cancer was 1 in 20.

Over the last 2 decades, iodine was replaced by bromide in the bread making process.  Bromide blocks thyroid function and may interfere with the anticancer effect of iodine on the breast.

Now the risk for breast cancer is 1 in 8 and increasing 1% per year.

One of the last essential elements included in the RDA system was iodine, established in 1980 and confirmed in 1989.

The RDA for iodine was based on the amount of iodine/iodide needed to:

1. Prevent goiters
2. Prevent extreme stupidity
3. Prevent hypothyroidism

Low thyroid and breast cancer – Iodine is critical for the thyroid to work properly. The iodine in salt has been made unusable by the manufacturers to be of any help and we have no iodine left in the soil in Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana.  With a healthy thyroid your chances of getting breast cancer go down dramatically.

Hormones and breast cancer – the main hormone that prevents breast cancer is natural progesterone.  The first hormone we run out of is usually progesterone because all the estrogens in our food and water bring it out of balance. Other anti-aging hormones such as DHEA and Pregnenolone brought back into balance early (in your 30’s and 40’s) can help support the immune system and prevent cancer.

Exercises and detoxing – Movement helps detoxify the lymph system therefore helping with breast cancer prevention. A $30 investment in a rebounder (mini trampoline) will keep the lymph moving and is fun and easy exercise for healthy breast tissue.

Far-infrared saunas are a wonderful low heat way to detoxify the lymph system. Pulling the toxin out of the skin is an easier way to detox for some ill people.
