Erwin Orchards Cider Mill Review and Pics

Posted by Glen LaGrou September 19, 2014 Businesses, Cider Mills, Oakland County, Photos, Reviews

Erwin Orchards Cider Mill and u-pick has been a western Oakland County tradition for nearly 100 years.

Erwin Orchards boasts that they are “still growing” though it’s hard to imagine it becoming any bigger. Erwin’s Cider Mill is huge! The farm is designed for large groups of people and reminds me a lot of Westview Orchards in Romeo.

Parking and accompanying land is expansive at Erwin Orchards Cider Mill and great care is in place to make sure whatever size group you bring will be entertained (and well-fed).

There is plenty to do for young and old alike. Kids love the many youth attractions which include: a large hay maze, goat pen, pony rides (weekends), a huge trike trail, corn maze, bouncing inflatables (weekends) and the opportunity to view a working bee hive. As stated previously, the grounds are expansive so there is plenty of room to stretch out and walk around no matter how big the crowds are. They don’t “small time” anything at Erwin Orchards Cider Mill. The trike trail allows kids to peddle large John Deere-styled tricycles around a paved, winding track. The trike trail is huge and so are the mazes.

I’ve seen many cider mill attractions for kids offer a rinky-dink playscape for kids but Erwin’s goes all out in offering entertainment for large groups. Erwin Orchards Cider Mill offers hay rides around the mill and their hay-wagons even accommodate special needs riders.

The cider at Erwin Orchards Cider Mill is sinfully sweet. Maybe it’s unusually sweet this year due to the early crop of apples caused by the dry summer. Whatever the case, it packs a sweetness wallop. The donuts match the size of the Erwin’s. Unlike other mills, they’re giant! The sugar/cinnamon/pumpkin spice donuts are delicious. The Erwin Orchards Cider Mill store is also very spacious and clean. They even have a large bay window so you can view the cider being pressed. The process is very educational!

U-pickers that come to Erwin’s Orchard can harvest their own Red and Yellow Raspberries and 14 varieties of apples. Check their website for the seasons to pick each variety. The Mill also offers Gourds, Mums, Cornstalks, Hay Bales and Fall Produce in addition to the jellies, syrups, pies and other cider mill fare.

Since 2011, Erwin Orchards has Mr. Bee’s Big 3-D Adventure Barn. Mr. Bee’s Big 3-D Adventure Barn is a premium, low-scare Halloween option for kids.

Erwin’s Cider Mill and Orchard easily accomodates large groups. You can reserve their country barn for family, church, school and company functions. Call (888)-8-CIDER-7 for details.

Erwin Orchards Cider Mill Barn of Horrors and Haunted Corn Maze returns this fall through Halloween. Check Oakland County Moms’ Haunted Houses Directory for details.
