Oakland County Parks Event – Are You My Mother?
Independence Oaks County Park Nature Center (9501 Sashabaw Rd, Clarkston, MI)
This program will help nature lovers better understand and prepare for the bunny nest in their backyard or the baby bird on their porch. Meet a few live animal babies, enjoy an animal themed craft and snack, plus a guided nature walk, weather permitting. Cost is $4/person. Pre-registration with payment is required at 248-858-0916 weekdays and 248-625-6473 Saturdays. No refunds.

Oakland County Parks Event – Great Marshmallow Drop 2015
Catalpa Oaks County Park (27725 Greenfield Road, Southfield, Michigan)
Head over to Catalpa Oaks County Park where 15,000 marshmallows will be dropped from a helicopter to be turned in for a prize. You only need to exchange one marshmallow to receive a prize!

Foster your child’s love of nature at this program designed for children 3-6 years old, accompanied by an adult. Indoor and outdoor, hands-on nature discovery will include a hike, craft, story, snack and more. This Spring session will focus on “The A, B, C’s of Nature.” Please make other arrangements for siblings. $4/person.

Come meet Leo the Lion, the “star” of the spring night sky. Learn to identify this constellation and more in StarLab, the indoor, inflatable planetarium. Gaze at deep sky wonders through telescopes provided by the Oakland Astronomy Club (weather permitting). Make an astronomy craft and enjoy a snack! Spring is the time for frogs, toads and salamanders to amble down to the ponds for breeding and egg-laying. Male frogs put forth a nightly chorus to attract a mate. During this family program join a naturalist indoors to learn how to identify different types of frogs based on their calls, make a craft, and enjoy a game. Next we’ll head outdoors at dusk to hike and listen for frogs and other sounds of spring. Suitable for school-aged children and adults. $4/person. Pre-registration with payment required. In addition, a naturalist will lead you on a night hike around Friendship Woods to see what animals are stirring after dark. We will even be serving a “star-studded” snack! Nature-based technology is redefining our outdoor experiences, allowing individuals and families to look up information like bird songs, known animal locations, or even hiking maps in a matter of minutes. Whether your interest lies with the basics of app-based outdoor exploration with your family or you are a devoted citizen scientist, this program will teach you the capabilities of nature-based technology and how you can utilize them. Unique ‘recreation on wheels’ units are available Memorial Day through Labor Day. Buses, stages, bleachers, and GO Adventures! are available year-round. The units are perfect for  birthday parties, neighborhood events, libraries, schools, day cares, senior centers, summer concert series pre-shows, festivals and events! Units available for 2012 include: GO! (Get Outdoors) Adventures (Fish, Cache, Paddle); Climbing Tower; Retro Games; Inflatables (three packages); Stage; Bleachers; and Buses.
